*Pursuing Purity and Holiness in Christ*

*Matthew 5:28 NIV*
_"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."_


Lust is a powerful temptation that entices and ensnares many individuals, leading them away from God's intended path of purity and holiness. Whether it manifests through impure thoughts, fantasies, or sinful actions, lust can have destructive consequences on our relationships, our spiritual health, and our intimacy with God. However, in Christ, we have the power to conquer lust and pursue a life of righteousness and purity.

The first step in overcoming lust is recognizing its deceitful nature and acknowledging its presence in our lives. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV), we are reminded that "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." When we humbly admit our struggles and weaknesses before God, we open ourselves to His grace and strength to resist temptation.

Furthermore, overcoming lust requires a renewal of our minds and hearts through the power of God's Word and the Holy Spirit. In Romans 12:2 (NIV), we are urged, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." By filling our minds with truth, purity, and righteousness, we can counteract the lies and temptations of lust and align our thoughts and desires with God's will.

Cultivating a lifestyle of accountability and transparency is essential in the battle against lust. In James 5:16 (NIV), we are instructed to "confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." We must surround ourselves with trusted friends, mentors, or accountability partners who can offer support, encouragement, and prayer. We can experience the strength and solidarity needed to resist temptation and pursue purity when we learn to be accountable.

Moreover, practicing self-discipline and guarding our hearts and minds against lustful influences are vital components of maintaining purity. In Proverbs 4:23 (NIV), we are admonished to "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." By setting boundaries, avoiding situations or media that trigger lustful thoughts, and focusing our minds on things that are pure, noble, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8 ), we can cultivate a lifestyle of holiness and righteousness.

To rise above lust, we must strive for honesty within our hearts. Tell yourself the truth at all times. You know your level of growth and maturity, stay away from things you cannot control. You might have to take a break from social media, some movies, and things like that. By all means, guard your heart.

Conquering lust is a journey that requires diligence, self-discipline, and reliance on the power of God's Word and the Holy Spirit. By acknowledging our weaknesses, renewing our minds, cultivating accountability, and practicing self-discipline, we can experience victory over lust and pursue a life of purity and holiness in Christ. Let us continue to seek God's strength and grace daily as we strive to honour Him with our thoughts, words, and actions.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your strength and grace to overcome the temptations of lust. Fill me with Your Spirit, renew my mind, and guide me on the path of purity and holiness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Some Christians who have often ventured into the world of Evangelism, preaching the good news, otherwise called the gospel, might have been confronted with the titled question. Christianity has nothing to do with region or tribe in terms of acceptance. Even while Jesus was here, his own didn't receive him.

@ the bold, the explanation of the birth of Jesus isn't a rocket. Islam's Qur'an help you with it. Creating the first humans (Adam and Eve) is even more harder (of course it's not harder to The Creator) compare to Jesus. At least Jesus has mother. The Former have not. wink

Yes. I was born in the Catholic Church. Circumstances made me to be raised in one of the leading Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria. I returned to the Catholic in 2018.

Catholics go for confessions in which a lot of things happen. For example, if you say you quarrelled with someone, the priest will ask you if you have made peace with the person. If you say no, he will tell you to go and make peace with the person. This now makes me to be mindful of how I talk to people both online and offline.

I am not perfect. I am still working on myself. But I, at least, try to avoid being the first to abuse people. Before the year 2018, I could easily insult people. My challenge now is that when people insult me, I return the insult. Returning the insult is not godly. It is part of why I said I am still working on myself.

I returned to the Catholic Church and learnt that every sinner has a future and every saint has a past. Because of this, I do not write off people who have bad behaviours. I speak to and assit them when necessary. But I don't compromise. I point out their errors. Also, I am careful when dealing with people who have good reputations. I understand that they are humans that can change or make mistakes any time.

Another change is that I came to understand that success (passing exams, getting money and so on) comes from work (actions), not from prayer and giving Church money. The Pentecostal Church I was attending wrongly made me to believe that praying and paying tithes without working can make me a millionaire or billionaire.

NOTE:
I don't mean that those in other Churches will go to hell. Even I and my fellow Catholics are sinners in one way or another. There is no living saint. As a matter of fact, some priests in some catholic parishes "misyarn". So, do not perceive my comment as an attack on Pentecostal Churches. I simply and sincerely express my experience in one Pentecostal Church and my experience in the Catholic Church. Also, I don't mean that all the worshipers in the particular Pentecostal Church I left will go to hell.

I am not talking about singing worship, improvement in your prayer life, blasting tongues etc. I am talking about true character change of bad habits, bad behaviours etc.. E.g. I have o. When I newly came to Benin, i spent a few months in a cheap hotel. One day, I was hearing a girl shouting from an adjoining room. I initially thought it was a girl enjoying the throes of sex, but I later realized it was a cry for help.
Upon bursting the door, I saw a secondary school boy and girl with their school uniforms lodged in the room. The scene was horrifying men. Apparently, they were coming from school and stopped by. The girl had a nylon in her hand with grubs the guy bought for her. She said she was taking it to her mother.
E just be like film for my eyes. I had to tell the manager to involve the police... At last, the police officers came and the boy, the girl and the receptionist who gave them a room for short time were taken away.

The truth is, you must go through the emotional pain of knowing you've been betrayed by a lady you loved and gave everything to. I know this because I have gone through something similar, although not as similar as yours, but it involved paternity fraud, but we weren't married.

You've done well by taking her out of your home. A move very necessary for your mental health. I will add this - a woman whom you caught cheating on you, if you still maintain whatever relationship existing between you both, such a woman will never respect you. Subconsciously, she would always see you as that guy who will accept the lowest of lows. Such a woman will never love you genuinely because she doesn't feel and see you as a superior man. In fact, the very fact that she cheated on you, bore another man's child while being with you should tell you that she does not rate you. You shouldn't be with a lady that doesn't rate you.

It's also time to get closer to God. Ask God in prayer to lift this heavy burden of pain off your chest. This is the only therapy that can help you.

In closing, you will be fine if you don't harm yourself. Today I'm in a better place emotionally than I was 5 or 6 years back. Life will always get better with time.

The person in question might probably be from a well to do family or getting paid well for whatever she does for a living ( even if na onlyfans set ).

The point is different people have obsessions which they don’t spare anything to spend on. They will go the extra mile to spend on such obsession.

My former MD even though he’s way ahead of us in years , he always makes sure he buys the latest iPhone once it comes out. One of my colleagues back then is from a well-to-do family so he can afford some items beyond his salary. When iPhone 7+ was released , he bought it almost immediately it was available in naija .

You know what happened? My MD saw the phone with him and checked it out and further asked him about the functionality . This man bought same phone that week. Then when iPhone X came out baba bought same . He bought 11 pro max also after the release. It was that my colleague that told me it appears baba is just obsessed with all these smart gadgets and nothing more .

The lack of God in the hearts of so many Christians have made God lacking in their children, homes, TV sets, marriages, phones, actions, offices, churches, cars, etc.
Because they talk less about God.

If you buy an expensive diamond bottle and you decide to be putting urine in it, what will it be called? Urine bottle.

To whom you love, you speak mostly about and also submit yourself and all you have to.

Just imagine how wonderful it will be, that you buy a car and instead of showing it to God and taking it back in the name of dedication, you truly purpose in your heart to dedicate it to God.

When you enter the car, you invite Jesus to come in as the owner while you only see yourself as His driver.

When your church have a program, you avail yourself as Jesus’ driver believing in your heart that Jesus wants to travel.

Can you imagine the joy that will herald the heavens, the relief your unexpected service will give to the pastor and the church, the comfort and attention of God you’ll command?

John 15:5,7;
[5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

you have the different cabala in every business robbing the company blind. people who dont know will say it is tinubu that is killing companies - when what is happening is different people have been robbing the compnay and now income has dropped, their theft is no longer sustainable.

any manufacturing business has a whole chain of people making money off generators and diesel. yo have a team who are ordering dieel for the company. you decide instead you build a fule dump and buy direct from a major. the project will be frustrated at every turn. your team says you use 5000 litres of diesel in a month. you engage a vendor with automatic guaging and they find your consumption is actually 2000 litres in a month.you sack and prosecute your entire engineering team, but everyone else in manufacturing hears and they all lock up and ensure they frustrate tank guaging in their own companies

THEME SCRIPTURE: And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God…(Luke 8:10).

If you’re a child of God, it’s your divinely given right and ability to understand the Scriptures. Never agree with those who claim God is a mysterious God; He’s not a mystery to His children.

It’s one of Satan’s strategies to deceive God’s people and try to make them believe they couldn’t understand the Scriptures. Never agree with him. You have the understanding of the righteous. It is given to you to understand the Scriptures.

The Bible tells us that God has given us a sound mind. So, you say, “I’m sound; my mind is sound. I’m alert. I have good understanding.” Don’t accept the devil’s lies that God’s Word and His ways are mysterious. Accept that you have an understanding mind.

The power is in accepting and declaring what God has said. So even if you’ve been having difficulties with your understanding of the Word, right now, say, “I have an understanding heart and mind,” and right away your understanding will open up.

Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life is to help you understand the Scriptures. In John 14:26, Jesus said, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Bible also tells us how He breathed on His disciples and said, “...Receive ye the Holy Ghost” (John 20:22), thus opening their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:45). That’s a miracle, and that same miracle happened to you when you received the Holy Spirit.

[3]In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. [4]I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments. NLT.

Good morning dear friends, I welcome you to today’s teaching titled “The Mystery of God”. The Lord laid it on my heart to teach this topic and I pray that the Lord will speak to us as we explore His word in Jesus name. What is a mystery? According to Vine’s Dictionary, mystery in the New Testament is “musterion” which is associated with the following words; manifest, revelation, and understanding. Also, mystery means the revelation of Christ who is God Himself revealed under the conditions of human life. There are many angles to mystery but for the purpose of this study, we will stick to the latter definition.
In addition, from the definitions of mystery, we can see that it has to do with something previously hidden but now revealed through Christ. This is a sharp contrast to the meaning of mystery in the English Dictionary which says that mystery is associated with difficulty in understanding and explanation. What mystery in light of the New Testament is telling us is that there are hidden things in God but they have been revealed through Jesus Christ .

Right form the time Adam and Eve sinned, God had planned redemption for all of human race through Jesus Christ. Salvation is not for the Jews alone but for the whole world. Jesus Christ is the plan of God for the redemption of mankind and He is for the whole world. John 3:16-17:“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17]God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. NLT. Ephesians 1:7-13: He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. [8]He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. [9]God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. [10]And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. [11]Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan. [12]God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. [13]And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. NLT. The eleventh verse of Ephesians 1 tells us that we are united in Christ by receiving an inheritance from God which is eternal life through our faith in Christ Jesus.

Also, when we look at our text, it is revealed that all of God’s mysterious plan we need to understand is in Christ. This means that all we need to know is Christ because He is life and all that matters in life. Only in Jesus can we find wisdom and knowledge and once we find Him, we have access to them.

Therefore, there is no wisdom or knowledge anywhere but in Jesus Christ, no life outside Him and nothing makes sense outside Him. This implies that to know God and to enjoy Him, what we need is a knowledge of Jesus Christ by surrendering our lives to Him. Before Christ, God spoke in different ways but now, He has spoken to us through Christ Jesus and the veil has been uncovered. Hebrews 1:1-3: Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. [2]And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. [3]The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. NLT. 2 Corinthians 3:13-14: We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. [14]But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. NLT.

Therefore, if we have anyone here who has not given his or her life to Jesus, I urge you to do so now because He has already paid the price for your salvation through his death and resurrection. If you are ready, say this prayer wholeheartedly; Lord Jesus, I confess you as my Lord and saviour today, please save me and be my lord and bring me into your fold. Amen. If you have recited the prayer wholeheartedly, I congratulate you and I welcome you to the family of God. Make sure you join a bible believing church as you start your journey in Christ.

Different people have what they are obsessed with . There are people who like to eat exquisite meals and eat at fancy restaurants as their own obsession.

Just the way some ladies like to buy expensive wigs, some men like to wear expensive perfumes , both sex like to look good wearing easily recognizable designers . That’s just how some people like to eat good meal that are quite expensive at some restaurant even in this naija .


I was at a naming yesterday evening, I posted a sneak peak of the video from the event on my timeline and people were asking me if it was indeed a naming ceremony or a wedding considering the crowd , the kinda food and drinks on display. They were more shocked when I mentioned that it was even a second wife’s naming ceremony sef. The father of the baby na senior man wey no dey consider economy when it is time to spend on parties . It is more like he just looks for any slight opportunity to spend money on parties.

In America food is cheap, even in Nigeria if a single girl is spending 3m on food and dining out a month. what is the average salary of a girl of her level? If food alone is taking 30% of your income, there is still accommodation which you have to pay. If you are single, that type of girl is someone to dey wary of cos na the type wey go push a regular guy to early death with financial pressure

Any obsession wey anyone get wey dey consume a healthy part of your income and its not even a necessity to survive na something to take to God in prayer

Cos na those kain thing no dey make person get savings (Akojo).

From experience those kind of girls will put pressure on their partner to meet up with certain standards they have set for themselves.

Eating with minimum $2k plus for 1 person just seem on the high side sha. cos we can extrapolate to say some months she fit spend $3-5K on eating out. Especially early in life. If na someone wey don dey top cadre for life and career you might cut them some slack, If na that fine girl MD for Zenith Bank now I fit understand or DJ Cuppy

My desire for her is to get a partner wey sabi chop life and spend money like her too to avoid monkey dey work baboon dey chop situations. So as she dey blow her salary, the guy sef go dey blow his own. Both will YOLO and face whatever consequences together

*MESSAGE:*
We have an account of Jesus Christ's first appearance to the disciples on the day He rose. He had sent them the good tidings of His resurrection and to confirm their faith in Him, He came Himself and gave them the needed assurance they could ever desire so that they themselves would be eye-witnesses of His being alive because they must attest to the world and build the church upon this testimony. Jesus gave them a commission, thus: _“As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you”_ which implies that they were to go on with His work upon the earth and commit themselves for the spreading of the gospel and setting up of God's kingdom among men. He also sent them with divine a warrant and armed them with divine power, as ambassadors, to make peace and to proclaim it.

Today is *Whit Sunday.* It is a day that explains to us the fulfilment of the promise of God regarding the Holy Spirit. As disciples of God, we need to understand that the greatest assignment was given to us all the moment we received our salvation. We must at this point rise to take up this assignment. As children of God, we have been given the necessary power been equipped; it is left for us to speed up and obey the clarion call. We need to bring people to salvation by sharing with them the gospel of God through witnessing, in order to make them candidates of the Kingdom of God.

Ingratitude is dangerous, particularly when it is directed at God, the Almighty. There are many things we enjoy from God’s benevolence, but we take for granted. As we saw in the Bible reading for today, when David seemed to be forgetful of the goodness of the Lord, he decided to preach to his soul. He took his time to list the blessings of God upon his life so that his soul could be grateful for each of them.

The first thing he mentioned was the benefit of forgiveness he enjoyed from the Holy One of Israel. Modern day Christians do not appreciate the blessing of forgiveness like David did. We often take the work of redemption for granted. Anyone who appreciates the agonising death of Jesus Christ on the Cross for the sin of humanity wouldn’t want to indulge in sin any more, the apostle asked rhetorically:  “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Romans 6:1

Only those who take the issue of sin lightly would say, “Let us sin the more, so that we may enjoy the grace the more”, and they shall not be guiltless according to the scriptures: “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for a judgement and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” Hebrews 10:26-27

Another blessing David listed in his collection of God’s benefits is divine healing. The Psalmist blessed the Lord for healing, whereas, some of us who enjoy divine health have never said thank you to the Giver of good health. The Lord promised that He would not allow us to be plagued with the kind of sicknesses and diseases that the Egyptian suffered and He made bold to say: “...I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Exodus 15:26

My prayer for someone using this devotional is that the Lord will grant you divine health which is far superior to healing in Jesus’ name. However, we must not take God’s grace and blessings for granted. We must endeavour to show our appreciation by living for God alone and by glorifying Him in our bodies.

MEDITATION
Take some time to count the blessings of the Lord upon your life and give Him adequate gratitude in return.
